He was the Baba Ijo (Father of the congregation) of Methodist Church Odogbolu till his death, a staunch believer in Methodism. His hobbies include swimming- which he taught many of his children, fishing and listening to music. He played the organ very well, very elitist pastimes even by today’s standards. His belief in the pursuit of knowledge, scholarship and his sound judgement ensured that he thoroughly exposed, encouraged, supported and financed his children towards excellent academic pursuits both at home and abroad, virtually all of whom are university graduates in Engineering, Law, Medicine and Humanities with professional practices both at home and abroad. His children remember him with great affection, and value his wise counsel, candid and sound judgment in matters having to do with controversy. He is further remembered for his honesty, integrity and most important of all his decency. He could not and would not in conscience lend support to injustice.
