Man taking photo in front of Grand Pier entrance Weston-Super-Mare

Pleasure piers were first built in England, during the 19th century. In their heyday, there were many pleasure piers across England and Wales. These were found in most fashionable seaside resorts during the Victorian era. The Weston-Super- mare Grand Pier has been damaged by fire on two occasions, in 1930 and 2008. Following the 2008 fire, which completely destroyed the pavilion, was rebuilt and reopened in 2010
