JOKGENSEN, Enoch, a prominentElder in the Church, is the eldest son ofJohan and Sorina KnudsenStaalesen, and was born Feb. 26, 1867, atEphraim, Sanpete county, Utah. Hisparents were poor, but they strove togi\e their children such school advan-tages as the locality Enochwas not slow in making the best useof his opportunities. In 1886 he began acourse of study at the B. Y. Academy,at Provo, from which institution hegraduated in 1889. Immediately he wascalled to the principalship of the Wa-satch Stake Academy at Heber City,where he remained two years. Aug. 2,1888, he married Anna M. Berg, in theManti Temple. She is the daughter ofOle H. Berg, of Provo. Several brightchildren have blessed their union, four. of whom. Berg, Sterling, Fern and Le-land, are numbered among the youthof Zion. [Sterling nine years old, andFern, seven years old, have died sincethis sketch was prepared.]. June 17,3 896, Enoch was ordained a Seventy byJonathan G. Kimball, and set apart asa missionary to Chicago and Scandi-navia. He labored in Chicago that sum-mer, and was sent on to Copenhagen,Denmark, in the fall. The last year ofhis mission he presided over the Copen-hrigen conference, and on being re-leased he was delegated to conduct alarge company of emigrants to a number of years Elder Jorgensenhas been one of the Stake ofl=icers of theY.
