The Danish currency, kroner, on white. Notes of two hundred and 100 Danish kroner, 20 kroner coins, two and one kroner coins.
The krone (plural: kroner or kr.; code: DKK) has been the official currency of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, since January 1st 1875. Both the ISO code "DKK" and currency sign "kr." are in common use; the former precedes the value, the latter usually follows it. The currency is sometimes referred to as the Danish crown in English, since krone literally means crown. This is, however, considered a misunderstanding, as the name of the currency is kroner. The Danish banknotes are often picturing Danish bridges on the obverse side in a bridge theme. The 100 kroner note is picturing the old Little Belt Bridge - the 200 kroner note Knippelsbro (Knippels Bridge) over the port of Copenhagen connecting Amager with the rest of the city. The 20 kroner coins have various motifs. One here shows Queen Margrethe II, another the Maersk Line ship, Emma Mærsk, and the third they Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
