Nova Centauri 2013. This bright nova appeared in the skies of the southern hemisphere in 2013. It is seen here at lower centre, near the stars Beta Centauri and Alpha Centauri. Alpha Centauri is the brightest star here, at bottom right. Above and left of Alpha Centauri is Beta Centauri. Nova Centauri 2013 is the dot close by and directly to the left of Beta Centauri. At upper left is the Southern Cross (Crux). The nebulae Eta Centauri and NGC 5139 (Omega Centauri) are at top left. Photographed in December from San Antonio de Areco, Argentina.
