Complex earthwork defences to the western entrance of Maiden Castle, south of Dorchester, Dorset, England, UK.

Possibly the finest prehistoric fort in England. Although the 115 acre site was first use as a neolithic camp, most of the earthworks were not built until 1 st century BC, only to be stormed by the Romans under Vespassian in 43 AD.
