A model 1848 percussion musket, for the Navy of the German Federation. Smooth bore in 18 mm calibre with front sight on the barrel band. "Kl" beneath a crown along with "A. Würflein" and "CITY OF PHILARA" are stamped on the side of the breech. Front action percussion lock, the lock plate is inscribed "SUHL" beneath a double eagle and "" above an anchor. Walnut full stock with the double eagle and anchor branded on the side opposite the lock, and the number "51" on the butt stock. Stamped brass furniture with two (replacement) iron sling swivels.
