This is not surprising, sincethey are usually of inconsiderable height, vary-ing from one to four feet in height, rarely reach-ing six feet. Their outlines are, nevertheless,distinctly defined in all cases where they occupyfavorable positions. Figure 13 represents a groupwhich occurs in Dane County, Wisconsin, on thegreat Indian trail or war-path from the Missis-sippi River to Lake Michigan.
