McKeesports Churches. 83 The Central Presbyterian Church was formed by a committeeof Redstone Presbytery, December 8th, 1871, with forty-ninemembers. The present membership is one hundred and eighty-one. Services were first held in a frame building on Union ave-nue. The benevolent contributions last year amounted toover four hundred and fifty dollars, beside which the congrega-tion contributed seven thousand, two hundred and seventy-onedollars for purposes directl}- connected with the church. TheSunday school enrollment is four hundred and C. B. Hatch is pastor, at a salary of fifteen hundred dollars. 84 History of McKeesport. The First German M. E. Church started as a mission in 1886,under the care of Rev. H. Barr, who, in 1888, was succeeded byRev. D. A. Stohl. In the spring of i88g, with a membership ofthirty, the congregation purchased the old Second M. E. churchbuilding, on Fifth avenue, for five thousand dollars.
