Frog (Eleutherodactylus sp.) sitting on the ground. The Eleutherodactylus genus of frogs is found in Central and South America. They are adapted to the absence of pools of standing water by not having a swimming tadpole stage in their life cycles. Instead, the eggs are laid on land and hatch out as fully-developed froglets. Photographed in cloud forest near Cosanga in Ecuador, on the Amazonian side of the Andes mountain range.
