The tidal range on the beach at St Annes varies. A 7 metre high tide covers only a small section of beach, allowing large areas to dry out and blow in the wind, as seen here. A high tide approaching 10 metres, in contrast, will flood the beach and reach the coastline, leaving the beach wet at low tide.
