Once common in all the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific, the Horned Sea Star is becoming threatened in areas they are collected by locals to supply the aquarium and tourist trades. These colourful starfish prefer shallow waters but cannot be exposed to strong sunlight out of water for long periods of time.
