Island Park (Nassau County) NY – On December 4th New York Army National Guard Officers CPT Rafael Castillio, and Cpt Totter led a Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program session at the Island Park Public library .The program gave the citizens the knowledge and tools to prepare for emergencies and disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. The program, designed by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), covers a broad range of emergency-preparedness topics, like developing a family emergency plan
Island Park (Nassau County) NY – On December 4th New York Army National Guard Officers CPT Rafael Castillio, and Cpt Totter led a Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program session at the Island Park Public library .The program gave the citizens the knowledge and tools to prepare for emergencies and disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. The program, designed by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), covers a broad range of emergency-preparedness topics, like developing a family emergency plan, registering for NY-Alert, the free statewide emergency alert system, and maintaining a 7 to 10-day supply of food and water. In attendance at the event were representatives from NYS DHSES as well as local politicians Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford , and newly elected State Assemblymen Todd Kaminsky who both serve the Island Park community and other communities along the South Shore of Long Island. – Photos by Cpt Mark Getman, New York Guard
