The Exchange, La Bourse

The view, taken in 1828, shows the Bourse or Exchange on the Rue Filles St Thomas. Construction was started in 1808 to designs by Brongniart and finished by Labarre when the architect died in 1813. The fine Corinthian columns form a piazza round the building and give it a grand appearance. Inside there is a large hall capable of holding 2000 persons conducting the business of the exchange. The image was drawn by T T Bury under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by J Tingle
