An animal wooden sculpture of an otary, typical of the Oaxaca region (Mexico). If this work represents an eared seal, many other animals can be stylised. They are systematically painted with bright colours and often psychedelic patterns. These statues are carved in the Copal fragrant wood (Protium copal). Sculpture animalière en bois peint, typique de la région de Oaxaca (Mexique). Cette oeuvre représente une otarie mais toutes sortes d'animaux peuvent être stylisés, ils sont systématiquement peints avec des couleurs vives et des motifs souvent psychédéliques. Les principaux villages à l'origine de cet artisanat sont : Arrazola, San Martin Tilcajete, La Union Tejalapan, San Pedro Cajonos. Ces sculptures sont taillées dans du bois d'arbre à copal (Protium copal).
