Staff Sgt. Alvin Long received the Army Aviation Association of America 2017 Air Traffic Controller of the Year award at a ceremony held at Fort Rucker, Ala. Long was recognized by Army Aviation Center of Excellence commanding general, Maj. Gen William Gayler and others for his outstanding efforts while deployed to Iraq with 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 149th Aviation Regiment.
