View SE of of Liveras (Corry) Neolithic chambered tomb, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK, showing the broken & displaced capstone of the destroyed corbelled chamber. A Hebridean round cairn. A girl of nine discovered the burial chamber when part of it collapsed in 1832 & a high corbelled vault was revealed. Men first entered the chamber carrying pistols for fear of the fabulous beasts lurking within. Charred skulls mingled with ashes were found along with potsherds, flint implements (including an arrowhead) & two stone wrist-guards used by archers. The chamber was eventually broken up & filled with earth. When stone for the road was removed from the E side of the cairn a secondary (Bronze Age) cist containing 'an urn' was discovered.
