Im-portant game laws have been enactedfor Kentucky and Ohio, and provisionshave been adopted for the protection ofinsectivorous birds in Kentucky, Ohioand Washington county, Md. Everystate in which prairie chickens still exist nowprohibits their export, and practically all butthree of the states in which quail exist pro-tect the birds at all seasons or make shipmentout of the state illegal. Ohio has adoptedan important provision, incorporated in the. III MIM. Three additional states- -Kentucky, NewJersey and Ohio—have joined the ranks ofthose which require nonresident hunters tosecure licenses. In New Jersey the fee is$10, in Kentucky and Ohio it is $ counties of Maryland have likewiseprovided for nonresident licenses, so thatAllegany county is now the only county inthe state in which nonresidents are per-mitted to hunt without restriction. Louisi-ana, following the lead of Missouri, hasprohibited nonresidents from killing gamewithin the state, and New York, likeMinnesota, has enacted a provision bywhich nonresidents from states which re-quire licenses can kill game in New Yorkonly under licenses similar to those requiredin the case of nonresidents in their ownstates.
