Chaplain Harry Hollister Kline, the first Salvation Army Officer appointed chaplain in the Army, is pictured. A Spanish War Veteran, he served as a private in the Philippine Islands during the capture of Manila. His service ribbons, including the Congressional Medal, Philippine Insurrection, and Spanish American War, can be seen. Kline was also a chaplain in the Nebraska National Guard. At 53 years old, he had to request an age waiver from the Adjudant General. This photograph was taken in Dannemoine, Yonne, France.
