Alakanuk, Alaska, July 16, 2013 The Alakanuk Police Station and Jail was severely damaged during a major flood that affected the communities law enforcement facility and operations. Federal funding in the form of Public Assistance (PA) is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certian nonprofit organizationson a cost sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the flooding in the Alaska Gateway Regional Educational Attendance Area (REAA), Copper River REAA, Lower Yukon REAA, Yukon Flats REAA, and the Yukon-Koyukuk REAA.
