Applique embroideryshown in No. 68 and No. 69 half its naturalsize. Three shades of satin material are re-quired for the applique, the middle shadebeing used for the foundation colour, thedarkest and lightest for the design. Thewhite centre ornament is cut out of white oramber velvet. The design is Couched tothe foundation with thick silk cords. Orna-mental cords and tassels finish the tin liner holds the water, or earth, if realplants are arranged in it; but dried grassesand imitation fern leaves are usually employed. Plate
