Entering a somewhat different department of rail-road work at the end of his service with the Wabashsystem, Mr. Daniels acted as commissioner of theIowa Trunk Line Association for the first ten monthsof 1882. In November, 1882, he was elected com-missioner of the Colorado Irafific Association, and occupied the position until 18,S(i. During this timehe organized the Utah Traffic Association, and sev-eral local associations of the railroads terminating inColorado and Utah, of which he was also electedcommissioner. He resigned these positions in18>S() to accept the commissionership of the Central. FREDERIC RE\E COlDERT Passenger Committee, which was soon succeeded bythe Central Traffic Association, of which he waselected vice chairman, and also chairman of theChicago East-Bound Passenger Committee. Thiswas his important place in the railroad world inMarch, 1889, when he was appointed general pas-senger agent of the New York Central & HudsonRiver railroad. Mr. Danielss railroad training had been unusuallybroad, and much of his experience was especiallyuseful in discharging the duties of his new passenger agent of a great east-and-west trunkline must have an immense fund of knowledge, atonce minute and comprehensive, of the traffic con-ditions of the whole country.
