The bridge over the Carpinteira valley was designed by architect João Carrilho da Graça and engineer Adão Fonseca. The bridge was a plan for the city of Covilha facilitate pedestrian movement between the city center and the Penedos Altos. Designed and built between 2003 and 2009, the bridge stands as an object that emphasizes the elegant landscape and creates an alternative crossing the valley.
