Under the supervision of itsDivision of Stereopticons, Lec-tures and Motion Pictures, theMethodist church will spend large sums for film work, coming from the total appropriation of$170,000,000, made by the church at its centenary. The National Catholic War Council has announced a nation-wide civic education campaign, for which its film will be a forerun-ner. A distinction must be made. The Catholic campaign will beused only in its parishes, in communitj centers, etc., under the. Catholic War Workers at the Rest Cottage at Camp May, N. J.,Whose Services Did Much to Help the Boys in Service. supervision of the church and its agencies. In a strictly ecclesias-tical sense this church does not approve of the use of motionpictures in connection with religious services. In the MethodistEpiscopal church the film has frequently been used in the pulpitsupplementing the spoken word, driving home a moral lesson moreforcibly and presenting a text in an interesting and impressive World at Columbus runs six reels. It opens with theconvention at Columbus, when 12,000 communicants participated to make it a success. Amongthe notables shown are Wil-liam Jennings Bryan, Secre-tary of the Navy Daniels andSergeant Alvin York, referredto as the bravest hero of thewar. The convention wascalled the centenary becauseit celebrated the churchs onehundredth anniversary of mis-sionary work. Consequently alarge part of the film showsthe mission work a
