Photo circa 1920s of American photographer and writer Therese Bonney (born Mabel Bonney). Bonney (1894 - 1978) became known in the 20s for documenting the French decorative arts, from furniture and jewellery to architecture - selling photographic prints to client subscribers, mainly in the USA. She won lasting fame however as a war photographer for her pictures portraying the ravages of WW2 in Europe, particularly the impact on civilians and children. Bonney published several photo essays and her exploits won her the Croix de guerre and one of the five degrees of the Legion d'honneur. She also became a media star and was the subject of the 1944 True Comics issue "Photofighter". Photo by Bain News Service.
