Extinction Rebellion demonstrations have now blocked the main entrance road to the A12 for twenty-two consecutive days, demanding the government stop supporting the fossil fuel industry. Police used water cannon against the protesters. The 600 demonstrators were taken by bus to the ADO football stadium and released them without further action. The group threaten to repeat this action indefinably until their demands are met. XR were joined by more than a hundred German climate activists from the Letzte Generation group, they wore red jackets and sat separated from the main group, but still together. Letzte Generation is known in Germany for disruptive roadblocks, they recently defaced part of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Members of the action group often glue themselves to the road surface, at times with a concrete mix, they are then removed by the authorities.
