A chin-sling can also be made out of twofolded handkerchiefs; the centre of one isplaced upon the anterior surface of the chin andthe ends tied together upon the nape of theneck, whilst the other is carried upwards tothe vertex from the under surface of the chin Handkerchiefs as a cnin-sling. (tig. 54 For gunshot fractures of the maxillary bones, the buccal cavitymust be diligently washed out with the irrigator. The displaced frag-ments are best reduced by dental splints of vulcanized india-rubber,which must be made by a skilful dentist. 0. DRESSINGS FOR THE NECK. To fasten dressings on the neck, it is best to make use of: 1. The simple necker-Fig. 105. Fig. 106. chief (fig. 105), a trian-gular handkerchief folded like a cravat. 2. For transversewounds of the neck,by introducing a pieceof stiff paste-hoard intothe neckerchief, thehead can be pressedtowards the injuredside (fig. 106).
