Clouds and star trails over the Atacama Desert. Time-exposure image of the night sky over the moonlit Atacama Desert in northern Chile. During this 20-minute exposure, the sky motion (due to the rotation of the Earth) forms star trails around the Southern Celestial Pole. The clouds at centre left are gathered over the Miscanti volcano (5622 metres) on the horizon.
