A gold-inlaid kulah khud, Persian, 19th century. Iron skull forged in one piece, with a relief embossed peacock head on the top. The neck, breast, and back are chiselled to represent feathers and inlaid with gold. Beneath the nasal an embossed sun face. Two side-mounted plume sockets. An inscription runs along the lower rim and hanging mail curtains of iron rings joined by bending. Skull is somewhat corroded on one side. The adjustment screw for the nasal is missing.
