. The earth and its inhabitants .. . the local industries have all bad harbours. Such are <S. Joao da Barra, near the mouth of the Rio Parahyba, and much farther south Imhetiba, a suburb of Macahé, at the mouth of the river of like name. Macahé communicates with Campos by a series of creeks and lagoons forming a conUiuious waterway about 56 miles long.
