Ricasoli Breakwater with Fort Ricasoli behind forms the eastern arm of Grand Harbour, Malta


Fort Ricasoli was built by the Knights of Malta between 1670 and 1693. It remained a military base under the British and was active in the defence of Malta during World War II. Today it is frequently used for as a film set. Parts of the major film epics Gladiator and Troy were filmed within its walls
