POWER-HOUSE CONSTRUCTION AND FOUNDATIONS From reading the specifications for the construction ofthe power station one would gather the impression thatthe structure, while fireproof and substantial, was that ofa plain brick factory building. The appearance of thefinished structure, however, is extremely tasteful. Theuse of red mortar to match the bricks, which of themselveswere carefully selected for color, is most more noticeable are the practically perfect sym-metry and proportions. This building brings out forciblythe fact that for power-station purposes, the proper pro-portioning of the parts of a comparative
