Casa Verde was a great victory for the popular housing movement in Sao Paulo. 1,500 families occupied an empty plot and refused to move. Eventually the city council installed water septic tanks for sewage and organised rubbish disposal. Negotiations to transfer land titles to the squatters are progressing july 1991
