First World war amputee in bath chair

A first world war war veteran convalescing after having both legs amputated at the knee due to injuries substained in the trenches. The soldier is wearing the uniform of a convalescing soldier, as before these uniforms were issued, the men were often thought to be trying to avoid fighting for the country and were subject to abuse and general disrespect.
