Makhmour, Northern Iraq. 18th Aug, 2014. Makhmour Police station bears the stigma of the recent intense fighting with ISIS. Makhmour is a town located 50 kilometers south of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Following an ISIS offensive, the town fell to the Caliphate on the 8th of August.
