5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 9, 2016) Marines with Tank Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, drive an M1A1 Main Battle Tank to a forward operating base during Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 9. The principal battle tank of the Marine Corps, the M1A1 provides armor-protected firepower in support of Marine ground forces. Alligator Dagger exercises the MEU’s versatility to support missions across the full range of military operations to remain a flexible, adaptable and persistent force.
