RUDE STONE MONUMENTS IN CORK 153 145. KnocJcnagoun Stones.—There is a road running northwardsfrom the Old Kerry Road to the hill called Knocknagoun. Thereis a fine dolmen (described above, No. 139) at the right side of thisroad when going northwards. At the left side of the road are somegallans. A is about half a mile north of the junction of the is in the second field from the road, but is not visible from is about 3 feet high. (I did not take its measurements, as it isin the middle of a field in which corn was growing).. r~—i $ Oft- I I 3 H Rylane Circle 146. B is half a mile north of A and at the same side of theroad. It is plainly visible from the road and is at the base of thehill. The dolmen is not visible from it, as there are trees andfarmhouses intervening. It is in the third field from the road, andis somewhat out of the perpendicular. It is 8 feet high, 58 incheswide, and 10 inches thick. 147. Two fields farther north and adjoining the road is a stone,but I am not sure if it is a gallan. It is 22 inches high, 74 incheswide, and 18 inches thick. 148. Oughtihery Stones.—The Old Kerry Road, after passingGlenaglogh, meets the road which goes through Dooneens to 154 ROYAL SOCIETY OF ANTIQUARIES OF IRELAND Macroom along the eastern side of the river Laney.
