PACIFIC OCEAN (April 7, 2017) Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Chris Vincent, a native of Atlanta, currently assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America's (LHA 6) Safety Department, performs a respirator fit test on Aviation Boatswain's Mate [Handling] Airman Dean Everett, a native of Milwaukee, in the ship's safety office. America is currently underway with more than 1,000 Sailors and 1,600 Marines conducting Amphibious Squadron/Marine Expeditionary Unit Integration operations in preparation for the ship's maiden deployment later this year.
