For grinding micro quantities of tissue under aseptic conditions, as suggested by William C. Stadie, Department of Research Medicine, University of Pennsyl- vania School of Medicine. Can be disassembled quickly without tools, for cleaning and sterilizing, by loosening two knurled fittings and the handles, but the simplified model does not provide an inlet tube for introduction of a diluent, as in the original Latapie Grinder. Removal from base requires only a half turn of post lever when Grinder is disassembled. Capacity approximately 2 ml. Consisting essentially of a cylin- drical chamber 13 mm inside diam- eter, with feed inlet 12 mm diam- eter; a crank-driven plunger which forces the sample through apertures in a vertical, stationary plate at one end of the chamber; and a perforated grinding plate which is rotated against the stationary plate by the second crank. The ground sample passes out through a short delivery spout, 6 mm outside diam- eter. Of nickel plated brass, except the two grinding plates which are of carbon steel, and the heavy base, approximately 100 mm square, which is of cast iron finished in gray Hammertone enamel. Accom- modates receiving vessels up to 50 mm tall beneath delivery spout. Base contains holes for attachment to table. 4289-E. Tissue Grinder, Simplified Latapie Type, Co.
