Theatre de la Porte St Martin

The view taken in 1828, shows the Theatre de la Porte St Martin which was first opened as the Opera House in honour of the Dauphin. The opera was moved to the Theatre des Arts and this house closed. During the Revolution the house became a meeting place and the Courts Martial. It became the Salle Des Jeunes Gymniques. The image was drawn by J Nash under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by J Redaway
