The British parliament sits on the night of its prorogation by the Queen. Prorogation of the Parliament of the United Kingdom was ordered by Queen Elizabeth II upon the advice of the Conservative Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, on 28 August 2019. opposition politicians saw this as an unconstitutional attempt to reduce parliamentary scrutiny of the Government's Brexit plan. A decision that the prorogation was unlawful was made by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom on 24th September 2019.
