The big display of fine decorative plants and fancy cut stock attracted the lady shop- pers in large numbers. As Vandevoort's cater only to the best trade, no cheap stock will be handled. Our old friend, Walter Mott, after an absence of six years, called on the local trade last week in the interest of Hammond's Paint & Slug Shot Works, of Beacon, N. Y. Pierre Schnider, manager for the Oakland Floral Co., at Kirkwood, says he will grow more carnations this year, and less sweet peas. The trade will be glad to hear this, as Schnider's car- nations are always in demand. The Nicotine Mfg. Co., now located at 7 and 9 Lucas avenue, is preparing to move to 117 North Main street, where much larger quarters will be available. John S. Carter, president, says when once settled in the new place, they will be able to fill all orders promptly. Mr. Carter has made appli- cation for membership in the Florists' Club. N. Kingsley, of the Mullanphy Flow- er Co., and Henry Ostertag, spent a few days at Chicago the last week. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Windier are there this week, visiting Mrs. Windier's father, Adam Zender.
