The machine consists of two heavysteel discs of the diameter of a wagonwheel, set at the ends of a horizontalaxis, which revolves about a vertical axisat its middle point. The discs, havingthe width of an ordinary wagon tire, rep-resent the wear of such tires on the sur-face over which they travel.
