Leaf bases of Elms generally have an asymmetrical appearance like the one seen. This is probably Ulmus minor (Small-leaved Elm / Field Elm) or Ulmus procera (English Elm) rather than Ulmus glabra (Wych Elm), since the leaf apex / tip is not as long and pronounced as those of Wych Elm.
