Porcupine.—Shareholders of the Davidson Consolidated,at a meeting held in Toronto on August 24, ratified the saleof the assets of the company to a British syndicate, whichwill organize a new company to be known as the PorcupineDavidson Cold Mines, capitalized at £1,000,000. Share-holders of the old company retain their securities, and theprice paid for the assets is £175,000 preferred stock and£ common stock in the new company and £50,000cash. A sum of £200,000 is to be set apart for workingcapital. Unwatering of the mine has already been com-menced preparatory to the resumption of Northern Ontario Sudbury.—The nickel-mining Industry continues inactiveand owing to the dullness of the market appears likely toremain so for some time. The International Nickel Co. isoperating on a limited scale and is not expected to increaseits output before the completion of a new steel plant, which is being erected in the United States.
