To thelatter union has been born one son, Lee E. William has served a number of terms in both the TerritorialAssembly and in the Council, and has the honor of beingelected Speaker of the Council. The brothers are identi-fied with theDemocratic party. D. C. Bass has recentlytaken charge of the ranch and is now the manager, whileW. E. Bass is engaged in other business. And so Montana came to be well suppliedwith judges, courts and lawyers; the minerscourts gradually fade away and disappear, theirthrilling scenes and incidents pass into history, Chris Nissler, the Silver Bow brewer, dates his arri-val in Montana in 1865, and is therefore classed with thepioneers of the State.
