The lamp is manufactured by the Towles-Scho-field Company, Washington, D. C, and is constructedon the principle of obtaining any effect of lighting byplacing the machine so as to throw the light from thesame direction as you would daylight, and using thereflector at almost right angles from the face of thediffusing frame of the machine. One strong feature is the automatic cartridge8 ~ r a i t system which enables the operator to make twelveexposures without reloading, and the cartridges aresupplied in different sizes, thus allowing full exposuresto be made of large groups, dinner parties, etc. The smokeless feature bv which the machine con-
