Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Nordsternpark, here the Nordstern colliery tower with the HERCULES OF GELSENKIRCHEN, an 18-meter high monumental sculpture by German artist Markus Luepertz. Parks and gardens in the Ruhr area. The Nordsternpark is a landscape park on the site of the former Nordstern colliery in Gelsenkirchen. After the closure of the Nordstern colliery in 1993, the site was completely renovated and transformed into a landscape park. In 1997, the park hosted the Federal Garden Show. Within the framework of the IGA 2027, the site will be further redesigned.
