I have been able to examine the collection of Monkey skulls in the ,,Kijks Museum van Natuurlijke Historie'" at Leiden, owing to the particular kindness of the Director Dr. Jentink. I found the sutura parietalis three times on about 300 skulls. Once a vertical suture,. Fig. 2. (see fig. 2) once a horizontal one (see fig. 3) and once a small bilateral indication of it in: a. Cercocebus aethiops. cat. No. 6 v. sp. cat. No. 2. I shall further describe here the first two cases. So it seems that we find the sutura parietalis in the above-mentioned collection in 1% of the cases. Hrdlicka found among 410 monkey skulls which he examined in New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Cambridge, 13%, so far more. The first case I found was of Macacus nemestri- nus, a vertical suture, see fig, 2. On the label was written: p. Macacus nemestrinus 1882. B. Hagen. Tandjong Morawa. Deli. The skull is complete. The sut. par. is only to be seen on the left side, no trace of it can be found on the right side. Eemarkable is the bend in the sut. squam. to the left, which is perhaps connected with the abnormal suture. Now we also find this same bend on the.
