Hopea Helferi is the tree known as lintah bukit on theisland of Langkawi. It is probably better known in Burma,Cambodia, and Siam than it is with us, having been foundin the Peninsula only as far south as Lenggong in UpperPerak. The botanical name Hopea dealbata Hance (theCambodian name) has been given to the tree in Mai. 10, but the species is shown to be conspecific with thespecies described earlier from Burma, and the older epithetis chosen in accordance with the rules of botanicalnomenclature. * The union was first proposed by me in Gdns.
